The Accounting Minor at OSU allows students to expand their understanding of a vital quantitative and applied business discipline. Accounting is often referred to as the “Language of Business,” and the Minor prepares students to effectively operate in the business environment across a wide variety of roles that involve accounting information. In positions from small-business owner to marketing team manager, an understanding of accounting will improve business decision making, contribute to effective financial management, help to obtain access to capital, support the evaluation of past performance, and more effectively project profitability into the future.
Minor Code: A016
Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with appropriate standards.
- Interpret the business implications of accounting information.
- Prepare accounting information for planning and control and for the evaluation of products, projects and division.
- Judge product, project, divisional and organizational performance using managerial accounting information.
