OSU's Research Office is dedicated to supporting research across the University. Activities include developing and submitting proposals, setup and managing of awards, conducting research, and disseminating findings. We partner with a wide range of companies, from small startups to large multinational firms, and offer a range of resources to help drive bottom-line business success, solve problems, commercialize innovations and launch companies. OSU research agreements offer competitive terms aligned with national best practices.

Offices

Our offices are dedicated to supporting your research and innovation, as well as maximizing its impact across the University, through the state of Oregon and beyond.

Advantage Office (formerly OCCD) supports OSU’s innovation impact by offering and connecting to a range of resources including:  intellectual property protection and licensing; tailored programming and funding to support high-growth startup companies; executing research, confidentiality, material transfer, and other industry-focused agreements; and providing access to unique tooling and development opportunities aligned with advanced technologies and manufacturing.

Office of Research Integrity (ORI) ensures compliance with ethical and legal responsibilities in research involving animal care and use, biosafety, chemical safety, scientific diving and boating, radiation safety,  and conflict of interest. ORI includes the Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Review Board (IRB), Conflict of Interest (COI), Scientific Boating and Scientific Diving.

Office for Sponsored Research and Award Administration (OSRAA) has central responsibility for proposal submission for sponsored research, scholarship, instructional and other activities, and research compliance as it relates to sponsored activities. Functions include proposal review, monitoring institutional compliance with terms and conditions, official institutional signatory, policy and procedure development, training, compliance activities related to research administration, and general funding opportunity assistance.

Office for Research Development (ORD) manages the Research Equipment Reserve Fund program, and coordination of “limited submission" opportunities.

Colleges and College-focused Centers and Institutes are comprised of 12 academic colleges, each with its own research programs and agenda. Many OSU researchers also seek out opportunities to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries, making OSU a rich, collaborative research environment for scholars and scientists.

Centers and Institutes

The university’s research centers and institutes use a transdisciplinary approach to addressing the world’s pressing issues. OSU researchers collaborate to advance the science of sustainable earth ecosystems; improve human health and wellness; and promote economic growth and social progress.
