Chemistry Education Option
This option is available within the Chemistry major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Chemistry Education option is a Track-Two option in the BS degree in Chemistry directed at students planning to teach high school chemistry or continuing with graduate education and teaching careers at community colleges.
The courses in this option are designed to interface with the Professional Teacher Master of Science in Education program for prospective high school teachers through the College of Education at OSU. This option includes courses covering teaching methods, a secondary endorsement area, and undergraduate teaching internship and teaching seminar in chemistry.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Recall, integrate, and apply essential core information about the key components of Chemistry.
- Demonstrate competency in basic laboratory techniques, laboratory safety, chemical synthesis, and measurement of chemical properties and phenomena.
- Communicate ideas effectively orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze data, access information and integrate information from various sources in order to solve problems.
