Pre-Pharmacy Option
This option is available within the BioHealth Sciences major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Pre-Pharmacy/BioHealth Sciences option is designed to meet most or all of the requirements for admission to pharmacy schools across the U.S., including OSU’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) professional program. Satisfactory completion of the pre-pharmacy option facilitates, but does not guarantee, admission to pharmacy school; applicants are selected on a competitive basis. Students are urged to carefully check admission requirements at their schools of interest and work closely with admission representatives in order to make sure they are meeting all current requirements.
Students may not combine the Pre-Pharmacy/BioHealth Sciences option with any other option offered with the BioHealth Sciences major (Pre-Medicine/Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Clinical Laboratory Science, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant). The Pre-Pharmacy/BioHealth Sciences option includes courses that must be completed on campus to ensure that students fulfill the required and expected courses of Pharmacy postbaccalaureate programs.
Option Code: 583
Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Apply scientific knowledge from multiple fields to critically analyze health-related problems.
- Communicate science and health concepts, data, and analytical arguments clearly, professionally, and concisely.
- Practice flexible professional skills needed for careers in health sciences professional fields.
- Recognize, evaluate, and respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse demographic population.
