To develop a sense of linguistic diversity, certificate students must study two languages other than English. End-of-second-year proficiency is required in one language and end-of-first-year proficiency in another language. One of these languages must be outside the Indo-European language family. Students should work with a Language in Culture advisor to identify an appropriate mode of assessment. It is highly recommended that students participate in a study abroad program
