School of Nutrition and Public Health
The School of Nutrition and Public Health (NPH) in OSU’s College of Health is dedicated to promoting positive nutrition and population health and well-being. We offer opportunities to prepare for a future helping others achieve positive health benefits, including through enhanced dietary practices, by promoting healthy behaviors and preventing disease, through addressing societal inequities, or by altering environmental factors. Our undergraduate degrees prepare you for the workforce and also can launch your graduate training in the health professions or prepare you for graduate school. Our micro-credentials and certificates are particularly valuable to working professionals who want to further their careers. Our graduate programs develop outstanding scientists and practitioners.

Faculty and Research
Our distinguished faculty teach across undergraduate, and graduate programs, and lead groundbreaking research in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to the study of bioactive milk proteins, the role of antioxidants in the development of cancer, understanding environmental exposures such as air and water pollution, developing resilient communities, implementation of evidence-based programs, care in nursing homes, and sexual health. Our faculty address health inequities through their research at the cellular, community, and societal level. Students collaborate on research projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience while contributing to scientific knowledge.

Focus is on human micronutrient metabolism. Topics include micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), phytochemicals and mammalian metabolism. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of micronutrient/phytochemical metabolism at the molecular, biochemical and physiological level. Moreover, the class examines contemporary issues relevant to micronutrient/phytochemical metabolism and human disease.
