Economics Option
This option is available within the Data Science major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Economics option, created in collaboration with the department of Economics in the School of Public Policy, provides students with a foundation in economic theory and its real-world applications. This program is designed to equip students with essential analytical skills, foster critical thinking, and a solid understanding of how economic principles shape decision-making processes across various contexts.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Explain key concepts and principles of microeconomic theory.
- Derive basic estimators and prove their properties, estimate economic models using data, test hypotheses, forecast, and interpret estimates.
- Apply economic theory to issues in fields of economics.
