Health Promotion and Health Behavior Graduate Option
This option is available within the Public Health major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Health Promotion and Health Behavior graduate option prepares students for many career opportunities in the area of public health promotion, health behavior, and the disease prevention. Students learn a variety of skills and strategies that will provide them with the necessary proficiencies to improve population health in diverse settings. Graduates are qualified to manage and lead the planning, implementing, and evaluating of programs that address health disparities and that are intended to improve the health of diverse populations.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.
- Apply theory in the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion interventions, programs, and/or policies.
- Create an implementation plan for new programs or adapted evidence-based programs.
- Solicit and integrate input from stakeholders, community, and organizations.
- Design and deliver health communication messages.
- Evaluate and interpret results from program evaluations and other research.
- Define public health problems, select research procedures and outline methods of analyses.
- Incorporate cultural values in the planning, adaptation, implementation, and/or evaluation processes for use in diverse settings.
