Biostatistics Graduate Option
This option is available within the Public Health major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Biostatistics graduate option of the MPH program will train students in statistics applied to public health and healthcare settings. Graduates will be able to work in health departments, medical schools, nongovernmental agencies, and CDC and WHO field programs.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.
- Translate scientific questions and aims into estimable parameters or testable hypotheses from a statistical model.
- Produce professional quality numerical summaries and data visualizations of health data.
- Apply inferential statistical methods that are appropriate for the type of study design and measurement scale of the data.
- Implement diagnostic procedures to assess the goodness of fit of statistical models to data, and perform corrective actions when assumptions are not met.
- Interpret and communicate research results via written and oral presentations based on biostatistical analyses.
