Marine Studies Minor

Understanding the human dimensions of marine and coastal environments are among the critical intellectual challenges of our time. The Marine Studies minor provides an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the dynamic interconnectedness of human cultures, literature and philosophy, and the social sciences within marine and coastal spaces.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Critically assess human interactions with the marine environment that is grounded in a range of social science and arts/humanities-based perspectives.
- Integrate a range of social science and arts/humanities-based perspectives to marine and coastal environments.
- Identify the contributions of social science and arts/humanities disciplines to the study of the human dimensions of marine studies.
- Students must earn a C- or higher in required coursework
- Students must earn a 2.0 GPA or higher in courses applied to the minor
