Pre-Education Option
This option is available within the Liberal Studies major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The BA or BS degree in Liberal Studies may be used to prepare for a teacher licensure program. This program alone does not result in teacher licensure in any state or country. For more information on teacher licensure programs that may work for you, please contact the College of Education.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Acquire competency and knowledge in multiple fields, demonstrating interdisciplinary connections between two or more liberal arts areas.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving using evidence-based reasoning to make informed decisions.
- Relate pluralism and cultural legacies to individual experiences, with an appreciation for cultural, historical and social contexts.
- Engage in active collaboration with advisors, faculty, and fellow students to develop an appreciation for differing values and perspectives.
- Articulate and apply written communication skills to a variety of purposes and formats, including students’ individual liberal studies plan, their educational experience, and learned values.
- Prepare for global citizenship by applying and cultivating multiple aspects of self-awareness, social responsibility, and life-long learning.
