Horticultural Therapy Certificate

This certificate is available as a standalone program.
The online Horticultural Therapy Certificate program is designed to allow you to complete an AHTA Accredited Therapeutic Horticulture Course series, while also earning additional course credit towards AHTA registration. This standalone certificate is appropriate for both Postbacc students from Psychology or related human sciences as well as Postbacc students in Horticulture/Plant Sciences who are in preparation for AHTA registration. This certificate is also appropriate for undergraduate students who wish to explore adding Horticultural Therapy to their Horticultural or Human Science Practice, but may not wish to pursue AHTA registration.
For individuals needing to complete a Bachelor’s Degree prior to pursuing AHTA registration, we suggest the BS Horticulture with Option in Therapeutic Horticulture.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Find, interpret and integrate data and theory from horticultural systems and sciences, and related disciplines.
- Assess horticultural systems, diagnose horticultural problems and recommend solutions, and create novel systems based on data and theory from horticultural sciences and related disciplines.
- Integrate horticultural sciences with contemporary social, economic, political and environmental issues.
- Develop and articulate content knowledge and critical thinking in horticulture through frequent practice of oral and written communication.
