Guitar Minor

A Guitar Minor designed to introduce students to essential concepts in music theory, history, technology, and performance in both the solo and ensemble mediums.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate performance skills in realizing standard notation and polyphonic music on the guitar via evolving practice strategies, and an application of those competencies in live performance.
- Demonstrate the richly diverse culture, history, and performance practices of the guitar and related instruments in live performance.
- Demonstrate competencies in basic recording skills which allow for the preservation and dissemination of the above competencies.
- Demonstrate analytical and aural skills required for elevated musicianship, including the emphasis on harmony required for composition and arranging.
- Communicate the value of their art to the world through the written and spoken word.
