Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:

• Articulate key concepts and events in American cultural history and their global impact.
• Demonstrate ability to write clear analytical prose.
• Demonstrate capacity to compare ideas and material objects from different disciplinary perspectives.
• Develop research skills, including handling of primary and secondary sources, library use, and online scholarly search tools.
• Demonstrate ability to identify specific cultural tensions arising around freedoms protected by the first, second, and fourteenth amendments to the constitution.
