The Master of Arts in Teaching is an intensive professional degree program intended to prepare teachers for careers in public school education. Students who successfully complete the MAT can be recommended for an Oregon teaching license in the following subject areas:
- Mathematics
- Science: Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Physics
- Elementary - Multiple Subjects
- Language Arts
- Music
- Social Studies

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.
This Teaching MAT program requires a minimum of 45 credits which includes a course in foundations of ESOL instruction and internships and/or practicum that provide classroom observation and teaching practice. In addition, courses are required in each of the InTASC categories:
