CE 469/569

Property Surveys

The course was scheduled to be offered in Spring 2024 but was ultimately cancelled due to low enrollment and faculty workload constraints within the geomatics group in CCE. During this period, the geomatics group had limited instructional capacity, which made it difficult to offer the full rotation of specialized geomatics courses.

The geomatics group has added instructional capacity, which will allow for improved workload distribution across the geomatics curriculum. CE 469/569 is currently planned for the upcoming academic year, with Chase Simpson teaching the in-person offering. In addition, the course is being developed for Ecampus, with Daniel Gillins leading the online development/offering. This will support both immediate delivery of the course and longer-term sustainability through expanded access.

The course will be updated to reflect current property surveying practice, including changes in relevant laws, professional standards, and modern workflows. The Ecampus redevelopment will also broaden the course beyond an Oregon-specific focus so that it is relevant to a wider national audience while still maintaining appropriate coverage of legal principles, boundary evidence, professional judgment, and applied property surveying practice.

Chase Simpson is available to teach the in-person course, and Daniel Gillins is available to teach the Ecampus course.
