Health Management and Policy Option
This option is available within the Public Health major at the following locations:
The Health Management and Policy option provides training and skills in the management of public health and health care programs and agencies, and in the analysis of public health policies. The program is appropriate for those who want to manage health programs in a wide range of institutions, both public and private, and is particularly well-suited for students interested in the business aspects associated with the delivery and financing of health services. Students can also focus on administration in assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement centers and nursing homes, and receive a Certificate in Gerontology.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Identify the main components and issues of the organization, financing, and delivery of health services in the U.S.
- Apply the appropriate principles and metrics to address performance issues within and between healthcare organizations.
- Establish, build, and sustain professional contacts for the purpose of building networks of people with similar goals and that support similar interests.
Only grades of C- or better in Public Health major and option coursework and prerequisites are permitted. Only two attempts at courses will be applied to the degree. No S/U grades are accepted.
