Kinesiology Graduate Major (MS, PhD)

The graduate program in kinesiology offers courses and learning experiences in the theoretical and practical study of physical activity (including exercise and sport) for the promotion of optimal health and disease prevention.
Graduate fields in kinesiology include biophysical kinesiology and psychosocial kinesiology.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
MS
- Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.
- Understand and recognize how human sciences, social and behavioral factors and the environment influence public health.
- Apply knowledge of key principles in their field of study.
- Analyze and critically evaluate research.
- Conduct, interpret and communicate a thesis or project in accordance with acceptable ethical standards.
PhD
- Produce and defend an original significant contribution to knowledge.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly activities in an ethical manner.
- Understand and recognize how human sciences, social and behavioral factors and the environment influence public health.
- Synthesize and communicate knowledge in their field of study.
- Identify central issues, problems and research priorities in their field of study.
- Design, conduct, interpret and communicate original research.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior related to responsible conduct of research.
