Description and Requirements

The last few decades have seen a steep decline in the offering of botany classes at all levels of education (https://doi.org/10.1002/ece3.9019). Many students graduate with degrees in biology and related fields with no plant-focused coursework. The Plant Biology microcredential will appeal to anyone who is plant-curious but not ready to commit to a full degree. This microcredential will also be popular with natural resource managers, educators, and other professionals with continuing education requirements.

Each course is offered twice per year.

Alternative Summative Assessment

Alternative Summative Assessments (ASA) are a substitution for the committee-driven oral exam present in most MA/MS degrees. The ASA should provide similar insights as the oral exam into the program and graduate learning outcomes.
