Pre-Dentistry Option
This option is available within the BioHealth Sciences major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The BioHealth Sciences major combined with the Pre-Dentistry option is designed to meet most or all of the requirements for admission to dentistry schools across the U.S. Satisfactory completion of the pre-dentistry option facilitates, but does not guarantee, admission to dental school; applicants are selected on a competitive basis. Students are typically selected on the basis of grades, DAT scores, dental experience, and apparent motivation for dentistry. Students are urged to carefully check admission requirements at their schools of interest and work closely with admission representatives in order to make sure they are meeting all current requirements. A member of the pre-dental committee is assigned to each student as an advisor to assist them in the process.
Students may not combine the Pre-Dentistry/BioHealth Sciences option with any other option offered with the BioHealth Sciences major (Pre-Medicine/Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Clinical Laboratory Science, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant). The Pre-Dentistry/BioHealth Sciences option includes courses that must be completed on campus to ensure that students fulfill the required and expected courses of Dentistry postbaccalaureate programs.
Option Code: 595
Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Apply scientific knowledge from multiple fields to critically analyze health-related problems.

- Practice flexible professional skills needed for careers in health sciences professional fields.
- Recognize, evaluate, and respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse demographic population.
