Art History Option
This option is available within the Art major at the following location:
- Corvallis
The Art History option offers a comprehensive overview of the history of art, with special emphasis on contemporary and Asian art. After introductory surveys in Western and Asian art, undergraduate students have access to a wide variety of upper-division courses that cover critical theory, visual culture, museum studies, history of design, and diverse areas in Asian, European, and American art history.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Exhibit broad and discipline-specific knowledge of art processes and history.
- Describe and analyze works of visual art critically and relate them to historical and contemporary contexts.
- Articulate discipline-specific concepts in writing, orally, and visually.
- Create original art and/or research projects by applying discipline-specific tools, skills, methods, and sources.
