Human Development and Family Studies Research Graduate Option
This option is available within the Human Development and Family Studies major at the following location:
- Corvallis
Students pursuing the Human Development Family Studies research option of the MS degree are expected to conduct creative, meaningful, and scientifically valid research leading to a defensible thesis. The thesis usually entails careful articulation and testing of well-conceived and clearly stated expectations or hypotheses. The thesis is the capstone of the student’s master’s program.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the following learning outcomes:
- Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
- Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
- Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.
- Evaluate how the values of equity, inclusion, diversity, and justice apply to an area of interest related to HDFS.
- Produce a written work in which the student exhibits mastery of at least one major theory in the field by applying that theory to an area of interest related to HDFS.
- Synthesize a body of scientific or clinical literature that applies to empirical research or applied practice.
