Physician assistants are highly trained members of the health care team who practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed physician. The College of Science offers a preparatory program designed to meet the general requirements for admission to many physician assistant schools. Students who complete the four-year pre-physician assistant program earn a BS degree in General Science with a Pre-physician Assistant option. Students are urged to carefully check admission requirements at their schools of interest and work closely with admission representatives in order to make sure they are meeting all requirements. Satisfactory completion of the OSU course work facilitates, but does not guarantee, admission to a physician assistant school, since individual applicants are selected on a competitive basis and extensive clinical experience in a health care setting is required.
