Survey of basic concepts and issues in environmental and occupational health, designed as a core course in the Oregon MPH program. Environmental and occupational hazards that affect human health are examined in the context of current social, political, and regulatory pressures. Topics include current issues, food protection, basic principles of toxicology and risk assessment, indoor and air pollution, drinking water and wastewater, solid and hazardous waste disposal, pesticides and health issues, radiation, and occupational injury. Global environmental health issues are included in discussions as time permits.
