The Office of International Student and Faculty Services (ISFS) in 444 Snell Hall and A110 Kerr Administration provides a wide range of programs and services for international students, faculty and scholars on the OSU campus. It also offers assistance to OSU departments hiring international faculty. At present there are approximately 950 students and 470 scholars from more than 90 countries at Oregon State University. ISFS also sponsors educational and cultural programs for the university and Corvallis community.
The International Student and Faculty Services (ISFS) section of International Programs provides special assistance to international students. The staff offers:
- Orientation programs for new students;
- Liaison with university, community, and international sponsors;
- Advising on immigration and other governmental regulations, cultural, and personal matters;
- Administration of limited scholarship funds for international students;
- Advice on the university’s policy of conditional admission related to language proficiency.
ISFS conducts workshops of interest to international students on such issues as employment (practical training) and scholarships, and serves as a resource for the community and the university on cross-cultural awareness and concerns. In addition, the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) provides tuition remission scholarships to a select number of international students who provide cultural and educational service in the mid-Willamette Valley area. These "cultural ambassadors" visit classes, clubs, service organizations, churches, nursing homes, and businesses to share information about their countries and cultures.
ISFS also provides leadership and support for a wide variety of cross-cultural activities to enrich the experience of international students and scholars on campus and in the community. Among the affiliated organizations are:
